A LETTER FROM THE USA | FROM FRED STRAIGHT OF WESTLAND DISTILLERY

mostly when FRED c/o REDWING1905 blog goes to the states he sends me a letter. at this speedy times it is so nice to get a REAL LETTER brought to you by the postman straight into your letterbox. you open the box with a real key, take a look at the sender, the stamps, then you take a knife to open the letter, and then you read a nice handwriten message ... perfect, normal, but nearly old school nowadays. FRED sent me a letter from the famous WESTLAND DISTILLERY, seattle, with MUSCLE CAR stamps – i did a post about these beautiful little paper things some weeks ago – and an awesome card with a beautiful classic american graphic. so nice. FRED wrote that this would be the coolest whiskey bar of the USA. it is a pitty that you can't find some pics and more infos @ their homepage: www.westlanddistillery.com. okay, first release of their american single malt whiskey will be fall 2013. pics | LTG

TRAVELLER'S NOTEBOOK ARMY EDITION | NIGEL CABOURN x MIDORI COLLABORATION

last week i celebrated my birthday and i got a lot of pretty cool presents. one present were the FALSE TONGUES i posted last friday. beside this beloved and now in use piece of leather FRED gave me this awesome TRAVELLER'S NOTEBOOK which is the result of a collaboration between NIGEL CABOURN and japanese MIDORI. it has a leather cover branded with the british broad arrow military symbol, which was used during WWII to symbolise government ownership of the product. look at the awesome pencil. what a great gift to me! the NC x MIDORI notebook will be available with next NC F/W 2013 collection. beside, MIDORI notebooks will be available next autumn @ volls.de. pics | LTG

great to see volls.de in german GQ STYLE F/W 12/13. i did the ad in collaboration with FRED from redwing1905 blog and i think the result is a nice one. some weeks ago i got this little map made of RED WING SHOES leather from FRED c/o redwing1905 blog as a thank you for doing some work for his agency. great piece: so smooth and unique. i think this map isn't available to buy in europe. it is perfect to hold FIELD NOTES. from the first day on this oro-russet thing is always with me. pics | LTG

some days ago i got a letter from the USA. hm, who should write me a letter from the states? indianapolis stamps? ahhhh, it was from my friend FRED who did a business trip to RW minnesota, chicago, boston ... it's so nice getting “real” handwritten post. i must always emphasize again and again – nowadays uncommon, nearly old school. he sent me greetings from TRURO, CAPE COD where great american artist EDWARD HOPPER has had his summer studio house on STEVENS WAY – beautiful location. FRED wrote me that he will bring a souvenir for me to germany. yesterday KLAUS from volls.de brought me a wonderful CHICAGO COFFEE CUP from INTELLIGENTSIA “fresh roasted coffee” which FRED gave him last week when he visited volls.de. i got the cup because of the STARS on it. i love stars! look at the LIFE TIME GEAR sign above. thank you so much FRED. the cup is in use! pics | LTG
