VINTAGE RED WING BOOTS STYLE #956

Hi folks, I hope you have had a relaxed Xmas time ... or still have. As you know, the most beautiful presents are often the one you give to yourself. So I did for my boot collection: a Red Wing Boot style #956 in very good shape. Hard to find, hard to get. Shot these on a Japanese auction on Christmas eve – what a luck. I gave a fixed price and I did it. I love these simple style so much; must be from the late 80s or early 90s. They are now on their way to the LTG central.

RED WING SHOES NEWS | LAUNCH OF WORK CHUKKA #3148 IN BLACK CHROME LEATHER

Hi guys, RWS news will not end this autumn. Today the WORK CHUKKA #3148 was launched. In 2010 The Red Wing Shoe Company developed the WORK CHUKKA in black just for the Japanese market. The BLACK CHROME leather of the #3148 is also used on this really tough and rugged Red Wing Engineer #2268. The weight of the leather is HHH, what means that it is about 2.2-2.4 mm thick. This the thickest leather Red Wing Heritage uses for their boots. The #3148 is the 5th WORK CHUKKA style.

Something about the history of the WORK CHUKKAS RWS tells us: “Unlike other Red Wing boots, the chukka was designed for lighter, indoor work that includes bending, climbing and kneeling. Their crepe outsoles allowed these indoor workers to stay comfortable, while not scratching floors or making a mess. From the late 1950s and ‘60s, American fashion style became more rough and casual. actual work denim work wear became one of the fashion trends. The casual trend was also had an effect on the work wear and boots. Ankle height work boots and Chukka work boots where developed and introduced to follow this casual trend. At same time The Red Wing Shoe Compagny started to use the cushion crepe wedge sole for several work boots styles. The functional and novel outsole was incorporated in the Chukka that was a new work boot at the time. The root of current chukka style #850 was also launched around the same time in 1954. The work chukka was worn mainly in lighter work or in the weekends for leisure and light outdoor activitys.”

RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN'S COLLECTION | THE “MODERN” LINE

This is the third product line of the last week launched RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN'S COLLECTION: the “MODERN”line. 2 styles “CLARA” and “LILLIAN” in different colorways were launched, the third named “HARRIET” will come to the stores in October. For me this line is not what RED WING SHOES are for me, but I am sure that a lot of Ladies will love this styles. RED WING about the “MODERN” line: “Both beautiful and practical, our Modern Collection reinterprets our most classic designs for women. Each style is built on a genuine leather-stacked heel and a three-quarter Goodyear welt and showcases our premium s.b. Yes, the “CORE” line is my favorite one! This line is what RED WING means to me, also for women: a perfect adaption of men's classics for women's feet. Iconic styles like the Moc Toe #875, the Iron Ranger #8111 and the Engineer #2990 are developed for women's feet requirements and needs. A perfect idea, knowing a lot of women wearing RED WING SHOES for years anyway. My wife never wailed about heavy or uncomfortable boots, but I know other ladies who did. So, right now they will get the perfect RED WING labeled boot with a perfect fit. Based on the men’s #522, it’s a pull on lace that fits true to size. The No. 106 last is based on one of RED WING's oldest lasts, the 8 last, slightly modified for a better fit and sleeker feel for women. This timeless round toe shape gives the character to many of most popular RED WING boots.
