what a surprise when AKRAM owner of KLAR in darmstadt, germany, called me up that he got his first delivery from SHWOOD. i like these wooden frames handmade in portland, usa, from the first moment on i saw them. so yesterday i went to KLAR and checked the frames. it was the first time i could try and touch them – lightweight and best handmade stuff: amazing. and the best is, that it is possible to put optical glasses into the frames up to 4 diopter. very nice the PENDLETON x SHWOOD collaboration frame with this special spectacle case. beside AKRAM did a really nice decoration of his shop window: woooooooood. tasty! hope the folks here will honor AKRAM's courage to sell SHWOOD downtown darmstadt. i checked the retailer list at shwood's website and except KLAR there are just two shops in berlin selling SHWOOD in germany. pics | LTG

f*** exciting! check the nice video below – what a great idea is this?! just 200 pairs of these limited “STONE COLLECTION” frames were made. here is what SHWOOD themselves say to the new frames: “Fusing genuine slate with premium Birch wood, the new Stone Collection is our most innovative product yet. there is a new CANBY style this autumn: a two-tone one. it is made of european walnut and quilted maple woods and limited to just 250 pieces. the CANBY is since the beginning of SHWOOD their flagship model. and it looks great. hope SHWOOD will do someday frames where you can put optical glasses in. at BREAD & BUTTER in july i met and spoke to DAN GENCO c/o SHWOOD marketing. he told me that they are working on an optical solution. please hurry up! pics | SHWOOD

i love these wooden old school frames made by SHWOOD. there are 5 different frames and 3 wood types: available in cherry, east indian rosewood or zebrawood sourced from authorized and supervised plantations from different african countries. all frames are produced in a handcrafted manufacturing process. i would like to have the “CANBY” and the “GOVY” but at the moment they don't offer the possibility to change the sunglasses to prescription lenses – damn. see the models and some shots from the actual lookbook and their gallery. beside: SHWOOD is selected as a finalist in DELL's “AMERICA'S FAVOURITE SMALL BUSINESS” competition. vote daily for them!  pics | shwood
